Profile
Dr. Shelley Tong is an expert on language and literacy development in bilingual children. Her areas of expertise include: Reading development and difficulties in bilingual children; Prosodic reading; Statistical learning of Chinese orthography; Cross-language perception of suprasegmental speech; Morphological awareness in Chinese; Learning Chinese as a foreign language; Chinese writing error analysis. She has published over 25 peer-reviewed journal articles, and is regarded as a rising scholar in the field of biliteracy acquisition. She is currently a visiting scientist at Laboratory for Language Development, RIKEN Brain Science Institute, Tokyo, Japan.
